2:45  - Voice Weavers - Womens Empowerment Choir Presents: A Community Blessing Way Event
Blessing Way rituals have come into remembrance for us from Native American, African and other native peoples and may be held for many of life’s passages, transitions and initiations. Often a Blessing Way Ritual is thought of and held as a right of passage and celebration for a woman passing from maiden to mother as she prepares to give birth to her baby. This Blessing Way Event invites the co-creative presence of the community of Kaua’i and will be honoring, acknowledging and supporting the growing families of Kaua’i. Music is a creative dynamic that carries the energy within its intention out into the environment and hearts of those it touches. We will be using music, spoken word and the power of group focus to create a dynamic experience that connects us all to the magic of birth; whether we are speaking of birth in the literal sense of souls coming into form through childbirth or the continuous birth of Self in which we all live our lives. In whatever sense it applies, the new being born is welcomed in what we create.

The Daily Divine: Sustaining Spiritual Connection During Our Every Day Routine

with Eleanor Ruckman, Art therapist and family counselor from San Fransisco. Yes, life’s a journey – but some steps on the path feel more blessed than others.  When stress arises, how do we stay inspired and illuminated?  Together we will create healing space to share and explore our practices for keeping the mundane sacred.  In a beautiful and peaceful outdoor setting, we will use gentle movement, guided visualization, and walking meditation to connect to each other and to the earth.  We will focus on our feet as the part of our bodies in most frequent contact with the ground, and create sacred foot print prayers, as well as bathing, anointing, and blessing ourselves from heel to toe.

Eleanor Ruckman is an artist, art therapist and licensed psychotherapist.  She loves to laugh and be barefoot, and believes that everybody and everything is sacred.
A participant in Eleanor’s land blessing ritual during the Maui Healing Garden Festival commented that the experience was a highlight of her stay on the island; workshop participants have enjoyed Eleanor’s humor and gentle presence.

Please bring your bodies and spirits; all other materials will be provided.
More information about Eleanor Ruckman, her art and her art therapy work can be found at http://www.ArtGivesHope.com

The Ma
gic of Mead - Honey Wine & Pupu Tasting
Sponsored by Nani Moon Mead. Celebrate Kauai's own Honey Wine under the moonlight! Meet Stephanie Krieger, founder and owner of Nani Moon Mead, Bee Keeper Oliver Shagnasty  will be available for conversation, and  Kauai artist Schar Freeman, whose original art decorates the walls. Nani Moon Mead is a unique honey wine created on Kauai with the freshest island water, fruits, and honey collected from the rain forest and diverse agricultural farms of Hawai'i.  Nani Moon Meads are made without sulfites or preservatives.

Stephanie Krieger, founder and owner of Nani Moon Mead, began making mead, also referred to as “honey wine”, in the fall of 2000 with the intention to bring value to Kauai’s natural resources.  After years of trial and error, and many late night tastings with friends in her garage, she came up with the varieties that are now produced and bottled at Hawaii’s only meadery.  Through purchasing local fruit, honey, and teas exclusively from the Hawaiian Islands, her market is designed to support and attract the local community, as well as provide visitors a truly unique Kauai product.  The Nani Moon Mead collection is crafted to be semi-dry and refreshing, to complement the tropical climate and cuisine of Hawai’i.

This evenings tasting experience will include an open pour of Nani Moon Mead's flagship batch, Pineapple Guava Sunset, which is a luscious blend of honey, guava, and pineapple from the Hawaiian Islands.  A semi-dry honey wine crafted to be light bodied with mild acidity and filled with pleasant flavors.
RSVP limited to 30 people. $30 includes an open pour and light pupus.

 Hawaiian Healing Techniques

10:00- 3:00 Traditions of Hawaii Heaing with Kumu Uncle Alva Andrews.  II

Kumu Alva James Andrews is a native of Hawai’i, a father, grandfather, and Viet Nam veteran.  Andrews is also a gifted spiritual and physical healer. His form of lomi lomi incorporates ho'oponopono (mental cleansing in preparation for long term results) This class goes further into the spiritual aspects of health. Open to all. Of interest to health practitioners, cultural practitioners, massage therapists.  Alva's form of lomilomi, or Hawaiian massage, incorporates the use of ho’oponopono, along with the traditional hand and body applications. Kumu believes that there is a connection between the spirit, the mind, and the physical body. Thus, the function of a good lomilomi practitioner is to harmonize the various parts of a person’s being, in order to make them permanently healthy and balanced.

There is a spiritual, mental and emotional dimension that must be factored into the Holistic approach that Kumu uses. For him, then, lokahi, or unity, is what is needed to effect permanent good health. Kumu firmly believes, as his ancestors did, that the body cannot be healed until the spirit is healed. This is the key to what Kumu teaches and practices.

Opportunity to meet film maker Mark Matthews and share adventures of making "Off the Grid".  A documentary that follows the adventures of filmmaker Mark Matthews while he lives in the rural jungle of Maui and learns to manage life without the luxury of the power-grid or immediate access to telephone or Internet usage.  The film seeks to serve as an experiential exploration of what this sort of lifestyle means in terms of both practical and spiritual considerations and hopes ultimately to prove that “unplugging” from the power grid can be done in a cost efficient manner with little sacrifice of modern amenities.  Off the Grid operates from the point of view that energy solutions must be a personal journey and that in these ecologically difficult times that action must be taken on the individual level in order to have immediate change.  We cannot wait for governments and corp to catch up with the crisis.  Until they do we all have a personal responsibility to create the change the earth needs.

BIO
Mark Matthews received degrees in theatrical arts and television broadcasting from Southern Utah University in 2002.  In 2007, He completed the Second City sketch writing program in Chicago.  Mark has worked on both sides of the camera and stage as both performer and producer, as both actor and director,  and as both comedian and writer.

Since then Mark has founded MouthHole Productions as an outlet for various forms of expression in both video and live production, most notably sketch comedy, documentary and viral video.  His comedic video shorts have been featured on Planet 19 Presents in Chicago, 106.5 The Zone in Toledo,  Break.com, Ebaumbs World, and AOL News.  For more information please visit mouthhole.com
